1.0 INTRODUCTION
We at HEED have embraced a Mission statement that compels us to participate in activities that lead to prevention and/or alleviation of poverty and its’ offshoots in under-served communities such as those found in less developed countries. HEED is thus involved in forming viable partnerships with groupings from under-served communities in as far as commissioning and running development projects is concerned.
HEED has through surveys discovered that most, if not all development projects require machinery and equipment of one form or another. In most cases, availability of appropriate machinery and equipment for productive and operational purposes is critical to the success of mechanized development projects on a sustainable basis.
This realization compelled HEED to establish the Machinery and Equipment Mobilization Program. Under this program HEED assists needy organizations by facilitating the process of mobilization of financial resources for acquisition of project related machinery and equipment from donors. The said facilitation entails co-ordination of activities that are related to mobilization of financial aid. Where requested by donors, HEED will continuously monitor and evaluates progress and/or success levels of projects that receive funding for machinery and equipment from donors.
It must be emphasized that the Machinery and Equipment Mobilization Program is not intended for organisations that need financial aid to cover start-up costs, daily operational costs, costs of infrastructure construction and/or acquisition. For the latter reason, applications for this program must be supported by sound business plans that will inter alia indicate from where start-up costs, daily operational costs, costs of infrastructure construction and/or acquisition, will be obtained.
